AFI presents Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Joburg 2016

As you may, or may not know, AFI (African Fashion International) has announced the reintroduction of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Joburg (#MBFWJ) for the Spring/ Summer season. This event will take place on 11-13 August 2016, at Nelson Mandela Square in Sandton City.

As Johannesburg is the economic hub of South Africa with the largest number of targeted consumers in the fashion industry, AFI thought it would be a great idea to shift Fashion Week into the spring/summer season to lift retail activity for local designers and redirect international attention towards the African fashion industry.

  

AFI is determined to invest in the potential talent and craftsmanship that lies within the continents best young designers while developing and marketing a commercially viable platform for designers and consumers alike.

Partnering with Mercedes-Benz has made AFI all the more determined to boost its Fashion Week platforms.

“AFI has always seen itself as the pioneer and purveyor of African luxury fashion,” says Dr. Precious Moloi-Motsepe, AFI’s Founder and Executive Chairperson.

“We strongly believe in the potential of refined African fashion, and are committed to promoting it.”
